1. SUNLIGHT warms Earth’s surface.

2. The warm surface gives out INFRARED RADIATION.

3. Greenhouse gases absorb and emit some of this radiation.

Some returns towards the surface. Some escapes to space.

The natural greenhouse effect keeps Earth warmer.

Adding more greenhouse gases strengthens this warming effect.

Carbon dioxide and methane are greenhouse gases.
