A force is a push or a pull.

BALANCED FORCES

6 N up and 6 N down: resultant = 0 N.

A resting object stays at rest. A moving object continues at constant velocity.

UNBALANCED FORCES

9 N right and 4 N left: resultant = 5 N right.

The object’s velocity changes.

PRESSURE = FORCE ÷ AREA

The same force over a smaller area gives greater pressure.
